Their quick and inexpensive service allows people to find a ride at any time with just a click on a mobile app. Although Uber is the most popular at the moment, Lyft is quickly on the rise. Lyft began in 2012 and is now worth approximately $15 billion.
Lyft’s use of advertising has helped them to steadily gain popularity. For example, Lyft posts a series of videos on their YouTube called “Undercover Lyft.” Each episode features one undercover celebrity “Lyft driver” who then picks up their unknowing passenger. With each video reaching well over 2 million views, the series has been quite successful. “Undercover Lyft” allowed the company to reach a farther audience with the use of celebrities.
Although Lyft has been prosperous in their rise to popularity, they still could reach an even larger audience through the use of Instagram. Lyft could use Instagram influencers to promote their company. Instagram influencers have become a large part of the app and have the ability to reach millions of people. With this tactic, Lyft could become the No. 1 car riding service.
